INTERNING AT LONDON FASHION WEEK

Whilst London Fashion Week happened way back in September, for me it is still fresh in my mind. Not only because of the fabulous clothes that were being showcased, but because for the first time ever I was actually there! (Yes, you read that right). I was actually in attendance at two of the coolest shows at LFW: Peter Pilotto and Ashley Williams.

Now whilst I wasn't lucky enough to be a seated guest at the shows, I got the amazing opportunity to intern at both. I worked at a PR company in the build up to both shows, going around London delivering invites to all the VIPs, and greeted and seated the guests at the shows, held at the new Brewer Street location.

TALES OF A FASHION PR INTERN

Hello again lovely readers! I must once again apologise for my long blogging absence, but I can assure you it was for good reason (I would never abandon my readers without one). So what is it that has kept me away from blogging for the past two months? Interning.
Last Friday was my last day of my press internship with Impulse PR, a fabulous fashion PR agency based in London specialising in jewellery and accessories. I can tell you, for someone who's jewellery collection consists almost entirely of Freedom at Topshop, (which is a client of Impulse), there was no better place for me to intern.

JUNE WISHLIST

Even if you don't know me, I like to think that by just looking at this mish-mash collection of items you can get a sense of my personal style. I'm not particularly girly, tending to stay away from a lot of colour and pattern.

MET GALA 2015 | CELEB STYLE

The Met Gala is easily the event where celebrities go all out with their outfits. It's the one chance a year that your fave celebs wear the craziest clothing and it deemed acceptable. Whilst there were some questionable outfit choices at last nights event, I am going to focus on my best dressed! So here we go...
Rosie Huntington-Whitely is showing of her AMAZE figure in this stunning Atelier Versace dress. If her ensemble wasn't sexy enough, she paired her look with slicked back hair and a dark lip. Round of applause for RHW? I think so.

BRITISH FASHION AWARDS 2014 | CELEB STYLE

The annual British Fashion Awards took place at the London Coliseum last night and the style stars were out in force. In attendance were designers, models, editors - basically every influential person in the fashion industry.  As you'd expect, there was not only a fierce fight amongst the celebs to win the awards, but also to win the crown of best dressed on the red carpet. Luckily, I'm here to give my verdict on the ensembles from the night...

Cara Delevingne won model of the year wearing this stunning Burberry gown with Christian Louboutin heels. Gorgeous.

THE LIFE OF A FASHION INTERN

Oh why hello there, haven't seen you in a while. I think it's about time we had a good catch up isn't it?

Back in September I had one of the best experiences of my life. My dream of having work experience at a magazine finally came to fruition...
Waking up at what seemed like the crack of dawn for a teenager (but in reality was 7am, a pretty reasonable time for most), I scrambled to find my most "fashionable" outfit. I then made the short trip to my local train station and headed for London Paddington.
The moment I stepped off the train, the typical London public transport chaos ensued but I kept a cool and level head as I made haste for the Bakerloo Line. Getting off at Oxford Circus I switched lines to Central. I was one stop away. Tottenham Court Road.
The hour and a half journey had flown by and standing outside the big glass doors of Bauer Media, inside awaited my fashion and beauty work experience placement at Heat magazine.

ST. TROPEZ DIOR HOUSE | TRAVEL

A few weeks ago I went on a family holiday to St Tropez in the south of France. Not only is St Tropez famous for it's amazing beaches and boats that fill the harbour, it is also renowned for it's designer shopping stores. One such store is the Dior House.

THE GLAMOUR OF ITALIAN FASHION

Walking through the large glass doors you are immediately presented with what seems like a traditional Italian marble wall. On the wall reads the words: THE GLAMOUR OF ITALIAN FASHION.

Last week, I attended The Glamour of Italian Fashion exhibition at the V&A Museum, which ended sadly yesterday. The exhibition showcased fashions by designers including Pucci, Sorelle Fontana, Valentino, Gucci, Missoni, and Giorgio Armani, spread across 5 sections: Return to Luxury, Tailoring, Made in Italy, Cult of the Fashion Designer, and Italian's Fashion Future.

SUMMER SOLSTICE | OOTD

My first outfit of the day on ANNA IN VENTURE is finally here! Saturday 21st June was the longest day of the year, a.k.a. the summer solstice, and in honour of that day I decided to dress in my most summery outfit of the year so far.

PRADASPHERE AT HARRODS

A few weeks ago, on Monday 26th May, I visited the Pradasphere exhibition at Harrods in London.

On the 4th floor of this world famous department store, was a Prada inspired paradise, with clothes, shoes, books, and images everywhere. It was like a mini museum tucked away in the maze that is Harrods.

The exhibition was arranged in six zones: Origins, Evolution, Typologies, Specimens, Construction and Observations.

ANJELINA JOLIE | CELEB STYLE

In celebration of Miss Jolie's 39th birthday, I am taking a look back at her most memorable and fashionable looks. From goth girl to glamazon, Angelina's style has grown up with her. Whilst she still gives us hints of her former black-dominated style here and there, her fashion sense has evolved into that of a sophisticated woman. Keep rocking the red carpet Angie!
I love this picture of a very young Angelina. Even at 10 years old she had her own sense of style. Here she is attending the Oscars with her dad, John Voight.

ZOOEY DESCHANEL FOR TOMMY HILFIGER | FASHION FOCUS

Zooey Deschanel. Actress. Singer. Designer?

I absolutely fell in love with Zooey as Jess in the hilarious sitcom New Girl. However, before this career defining role, she had supporting roles in films Almost Famous, The Good Girl, Elf, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Failure to Launch, Yes Man and (500) Days of Summer. Quite an impressive list. But this kooky Californian truly found international fame in the form of Jessica Day. A teacher looking for a new apartment after breaking up with her boyfriend moves in with three guys, and becomes the 'new girl' in the loft. On top of all the awards she has won and been nominated for, Zooey also finds time to do music with M. Ward, creating the unique sound of She & Him. So what's next for this accomplished star? Fashion, designing a capsule collection for Tommy Hilfiger.

NEW YEAR'S EVE OUTFIT

I am a very lucky girl.
Last week, even with Christmas approaching, my amazing mum took me on a shopping trip to Topshop.  Amongst the several items that she bought for me, she purchased this gorgeous dress which is to be my dress for New Year's Eve. It's a jersey dress with gold lurex top and tulle skirt, and it immediately caught my eye in the store.

IMG NOW SIGNS MODELS NO MATTER WHAT SIZE, AGE OR RACE | FASHION FOCUS

The fashion industry has largely reduced beauty to one size, shape, height, and race for a very long time. Ever since the days "heroin chic" in the nineties, the fashion industry has lacked diversity. All to often, we see the same girls on the runway and in the magazines. 5"10. Size zero. White. Is this what "beauty" looks like to everyone around the world? Top modelling agency IMG seems to have recognised that it is not.

IMG, which represents everyone from Gisele to Joan Smalls to Kate Upton, is now set to starting signing models regardless of their shape, size, age, race, and height. If you've got the talent, they'll sign you. "We want to be an ageless, raceless, weightless agency," IMG Models Senior Vice President and Managing Director Ivan Bart said. "We just want to represent the best people in the industry."

ABERCROMBIE & FITCH'S PLUS SIZE PLANS | FASHION FOCUS

In a bid to attract new customers following dips in sales, Abercrombie & Fitch will start selling clothing in plus sizes for the first time.

The announcement marks a significant departure from the company’s “no plus size” policy, which fails to cater for customers above a size L, or the equivalent of a US size 10 (UK 14).

In recent times Abercrombie has continued to lose out against rival American Eagle Outfitters and fast fashion retailers Forever 21 and H&M.

A&F CEO Mike Jefferies made headlines after a controversial interview where he defended the label’s sizing policy, insisting that “only cool kids” have the right look to shop at Abercrombie.

LOU LOU VINTAGE FAIR

I absolutely love the smell of old things. The musty aroma just brings back so many memories of my nan and granddad's house, and makes me feel like a kid again. So it was no surprise that upon entering the Lou Lou Vintage Fair at the Southampton Guildhall today, I was overwhelmed with happiness. Not only was my sense of smell satisfied, but so was my sense of sight. There were so many amazing clothes around, a feast for the eyes, I didn't know where to look!

WEDNESDAY ADDAMS | GET THE LOOK

Sunday, 27 October 2013

HALLOWEEN FASHION ICONS

Instead of going as the stereotypical "slutty bunny" a la Mean Girls because Halloween is "the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it", I personally prefer going as something somewhat scary - it is HALLOWEEN after all! And so, with this in mind, here are my top 5 Halloween style icons, that hopefully will give you a little inspiration.

1. Wednesday Addams
I actually dressed up as Wednesday last year but I would happily do it again this year!
Get the look: A dress with a white peter pan collar, or a dress and a shirt you can wear underneath (that's what I did), the palest face powder you can find, and a centre parting finished off with tight plaits.

WHAT'S IN MY BAG?

As I said in my previous blog post, last Wednesday I went to Pause's launch party for the 5th issue of their amazing men's fashion magazine.

The best part about the night? The goodie bag! I joke of course - the best part of the night was talking to some of the industries most talented upcoming people and seeing all the clothes from This Is Not Clothing and Borsc London. But it's nice to get free stuff too!

So what was in my bag?

PAUSE MAGAZINE ISSUE 5 LAUNCH | FASHION EVENT

Last Wednesday, I attended Pause Magazine's 5th issue launch, held in Camden.
Despite showing up late (I missed my train!), their was still a great vibe about the place, with drinks flowing, and friendly yet fiercely dressed company.
