MARY KATE & ASHLEY | CELEB STYLE

Today is the Olsen twins 27th birthday! For someone who grew up watching them from their days on TV in Two of a Kind, (I was born after the glory days of Full House), to their films including Passport to Paris, Our Lips Are Sealed, Winning London, Holiday in the Sun, When in Rome, and New York Minute, (I had to mention all the good ones!), it seems odd that they’re only nine years older than me.
They then seamlessly made the transition from actresses to business women, and then to fashion icons. Over the years, they stopped dressing in the same clothes and blossomed into their own styles - Mary Kate is the more quirky of the two, whilst Ashley is sophisticated and chic. Here are some of their best looks…
Clearly still in their "matchy matchy" phase, the twins first showed signs of their budding fashion sense back in March 2002 when they wore matching black dresses with lace detail to the Vanity Fair Oscars party.
At the Badgley Mischka autumn/winter 2006-07 New York Fashion Week show, appropriately they both wore Badgley Mischka.
At a Teen Vogue party in November 2006 which was celebrating their cover with the magazine, Ashley wore a black Calvin Klein beaded number with a plunging neck line, whilst Mary Kate wore a Halston red kimono style dress.
Mary Kate showed off her individual sense of style in April 2008 wearing a Missoni dress, Marc Jacobs headband and a yellow Dior clutch.
Ashley was another fashion hit in Calvin Klein in June 2008 at the CFDA Awards in New York.
Posing with Christian Louboutin at the Costume Institute Gala in May 2008, both ladies wore gowns by Diane von Furstenberg.
A year later, MK & A wore different designers on the carpet. Mary Kate wore a Christian Lacroix couture autumn/winter 2007-08 dress.
Whilst Ashley wore a The Row white backless gown.
In January 2010, Ashley wore an Alexander McQueen gown at The Art of Elysium Gala.
Mary Kate attended the autumn/winter 2010-11 Burberry Prorsum show during London Fashion Week in a long sleeved trench by the label.
For the CFDA Awards in March 2011, Ashley wore a pale pink suit by The Row with gold Manalo Blahnik heels, and Mary Kate wore a black suit with Prada shoes.
Both dressed in Saint Laurent for a night at the Metropolitan Opera, hosted by YSL.
At the 2011 Costume Institure Gala, Ashley wore a Christian Dior creation.
And Mary Kate wore a Givenchy couture vintage dress.
At the CFDA Awards in June 2011, Ashley wore a blue The Row dress and Mary Kate sported a golden sequinned Chanel jacket and a The Row black skirt.
The next year, they both wore pieces from their The Row pre-sping/summer 2013 collection.

Happy 27th girls! And keep up the good work!

Lots of love, Anna x
